We are organizing our next online SHL Training Academy event on the 24th of February. The workshop focuses on burnout which is a rising problem in today’s work environment. Maslach and Leiter describe the phenomenon the following way: „Burnout represents an erosion in values, dignity, spirit, and will—an erosion of the human soul. It is a malady that spreads gradually and continuously over time, putting people into a downward spiral from which it's hard to recover…”
Burnout has many indicators: chronic fatigue, depersonalization and decrease in productivity. Besides the organizational culture and the work itself, several factors can contribute to feeling burnt out: individual factors, interpersonal relationships or society’s structure. The opposite of burnout is devotion to the job, which is characterized by activity, involvement and productivity. Burnout has a negative effect on physical-, mental health and behavior. It is most important to intervene when we recognize the symptoms on our colleagues or ourselves.
How can SHL help? Diagnosing is supported by personality questionnaires, motivation questionnaires and burnout questionnaires, and help is provided by our „Keep the flame!” program which can reverse the process effectively. The programme entails 12 of 1,5 hour development consultations. Themes in the program include the joy of joining, successes, failures, work-personal life integrity, and stress management techniques. The content is tailored to the individual since everyone burns out differently.
