For today’s graduates, it is prominently important that they enjoy what and where they work. They want to share the organization’s values and diversity is also a factor they often consider when applying for a job. The kind of support they receive during the pandemic’s uncertain conditions and development opportunities are also determining.
We also have to remember that this generation want to receive information as fast as possible because that’s what they are used to – they want to learn about the organization and themselves in the process. They like to learn through experiences so it is rewarding to engage them with videos and interactive tools. They also value authenticity and relevancy. Honesty is also important during the recruitment process – recruiters should try to paint an accurate picture of what it is like to work for their organization.
Some tips on finding the ideal candidates who are able to perform and develop with our organization:
- Respect graduates with painting a realistic picture about the job and our company. Honest, clear communication and helpfulness is key.
- Use videos or other tools to get to know the candidate.
- Paint a realistic picture about the work environment, and explain development opportunities, too.
- Give feedback – constructive criticism is crucial for growing.
- Be honest – they might have some information about the company from social media, but their sources might not be genuine.
- Make a developmental plan for employees – use the data and insight collected during the recruitment process. This is useful for the candidate and the organization equally.
54% of graduates find leaving university and entering the working world exhausting and stressful. We can ensure that they receive help by providing a meaningful and positive candidate experience.
